I'm Adam Eccles - novelist, podcaster and cynical tech nerd, recording from the wild Atlantic edge of Ireland. I talk books and the writing life, and I talk tech. Often in the same breath.
I've spent 40-odd episodes on the other side of the mic, so I know what makes a guest easy to work with: clean audio, good stories, and answers that don't need rescuing in the edit.

I'm slightly obsessive about audio. Fine - very obsessive. You won't be rescuing my track from laptop-mic echo or earbud crackle. Here's what's on my end of the call.
The broadcast dynamic mic behind a huge share of the shows you listen to. Warm, close and forgiving - it hears my voice, not my room.
Proper gain, compression and gating in hardware, so the signal is clean before it ever reaches your recording.
If you want my isolated track, it arrives as a proper file - not a squashed voice memo.
What you can count on
- A broadcast dynamic mic. Never a laptop, webcam or earbud mic.
- Headphones on, so no echo or bleed into your recording.
- Wired Ethernet on solid fibre broadband. No Wi-Fi, no dropouts mid-answer.
- A local backup of my side, sent over as a WAV if you want it.
- Riverside, Zencastr, StreamYard, Zoom - whatever your show runs on.
- A host's instincts: I leave room for your edit points and don't talk over you.
Audio is my preferred medium, and it's what I'd recommend. But if your show is filmed, I can give you a clean, well-lit video feed from a Canon EOS setup, with a green screen if you'd rather drop in your own background.
