For Your Privacy and Security
Every company now begins a phone call with the same lie.
“For your privacy and security…”
What follows is usually the exact opposite.
You sit through a legal-sounding recording, then hand personal details to a stranger in a call centre who cannot solve the problem, cannot change the process and can only recite a script written by someone far away from the consequences.
The company verifies you.
You have no meaningful way to verify them.
They collect more data, waste more time and call it protection.
It is not protection. It is compliance theatre.
The purpose is to protect the company, satisfy a checklist and produce a recording proving the ritual took place. Whether the customer’s actual problem is fixed appears to be secondary.
And it is everywhere now. Banks, utilities, telecoms, insurers, delivery companies, service providers. Different logo, same script, same pointless questions, same vaguely legal lies.
The system records the call, verifies the customer, creates a ticket and marks the interaction complete.
Nothing is solved.
But the boxes are green.
At the very least, stop pretending it is for us.
Say what you mean:
“Our company requires this process before we will attempt to help you.”
Still useless.
But honest.
