A long, long time ago. I decided somehow that it was a good idea to be a chef. I love cooking. Or at least, I did. And it seemed like a good idea.
I did three years at catering college and I worked in fancy restaurants. I have cooked dinner for Iman and David.
Anyway. 36 years ago I learned the correct way to cut an onion (among other things) and to this day, if I see some recipe video of someone ‘doing it wrong’ it gets under my skin.
Cooking is a basic skill that everyone should have. Everyone.
Preparing food is important. We all need to eat.
I think cooking should be taught to kids from a young age. I don't know what they teach in schools these days, but it seems clear that proper knife skills in the kitchen aren't on the curriculum.
They should be.
What do you think? Do you know how to cut an onion?
